With Morrie and now Fizbop on board its gonna be epic, you just watch

PS if you're a rating hound, there's some rating to be done hehehe

well geee no wonder they're at the bottom of a food chain if that's how they're going to behave

anyhow ....

The teacher of the 'wind up watch lesson' is now on gardening leave, I have to look up what that really means and now we have a really awesome teacher ... this guy actually sits at our tables and works with us - when he screws up, he laughs - when we screw up, he laughs more. We are now really getting places

I have suggested he teach geography

We had the 'feedback forms' from Asda about our visit. We have all got together and all of us are going to rave about the guy who collects the empty trolleys and not mention the manager's powerpoint yawn at all hehehe

The captain of our debating society has got to step down in October, I so want that position. I have been the vice captain now for two captains, I got stepped past/over/on for the last change. we have a mega debate coming up, I am going to work my socks off for it ... will keep y'all posted

Think of how I felt. My daughter wanted a hamster and I bought a golden hamster...Then my hubby got her a teddybear hamster that was supposed to be a female as well and turned out to be a male..2 hamsters turned into 20 ( they can have up to 18 babies at a time) and then 3 months later...20 turned into 48 and I sold the suckers back to the pet store

Today we all had to go to Asda (that's Walmart) to look at the operation of a large superstore.

Personally I liked the guy who collects the trolleys, the lady who cleans the aisles and the kid who wouldn't stop screaming.

The guy who collects the trollies needs skill to steer a huge line of wobbly wheels between motorists who would complain if their cars got scratched, but still ignore the guy struggling - then the lady who cleans up is doing her best to protect people who would complain if they stood in goo and broken glass, but still step over the barriers to 'just' get ... and the kid for just sheer volume and pitch LOL

Stabb666 earned my respect over two years ago, I have looked up to him ever since. He works darned hard for this site, in a thankless job. He cops more flack than most, mostly because he's out there doing what he is meant to.

My small role in site admin is a mite time consuming but it never really attracts that much trouble. I thank people when they take the time to suggest something to the database, I explain when I can't accept it. 99.9% of people live with what I say and 0.1% I can ignore.

The Dominars on the other hand stand right up there and uphold VR rules in the very area where people are venting their opinions. Where people think they have rights. They are never thanked for doing this job, they just cop masses and masses of grief and flack ....

Its like the people on TV shouting at the airline check-in desk because the plane has been grounded due to fog. Do they thank the people for saving them from a fiery death at the end of the runway - no, they shout at the staff like they were somehow responsible for the fog

Well VR has rules, if you don't like them ... try vampirefreaks or make your own site, and have everyone lining up to attack what you have built

... those that enforce the rules deserve respect.

He was one of the first people here that I found wonderful conversations with since he made me stretch my mind so very far just to keep up with him. He does so very much here from the Dominar duties to writing articles, making forum thread posts that lead to everyone going deeper into the dicussion. He makes such an easy target for those who have nothing better than be jerks. Thanks for saying something very much deserved.

We had to investigate the inner workings of a wind-up watch. There were five teams

Teacher only looks up from time to time, lots of tools being picked up and tongues sticking out in pure concentration.

My team got a star because, at the end, our watch was still working and keeping time

Not really surprising, we couldn't get the back off.

He really should concentrate on what we do. If this is going to be his standard of teaching; I'm going to go back to geography *ugh*

Warning

16:06 Sep 08 2008
Times Read: 1,015

We knew all Thursday afternoon's 'surviving a disaster' research had to have had a motive someplace. Apparently high on our priorities should have been a warning system ... well, go figure, it was definitely 'surviving a disaster' not 'building up to a disaster' ... anyhow, almost like magic, on Friday, the year head introduced us to a new warning system - wooooo

The old one used to be a bell and then someone telling us what to do over a loudspeaker ... simple eh. For some reason its had to go high tech and now each computer screen is interrupted with a really annoying beep and instructions ...

Today was its first test, I had my file all done but they wouldn't use it :( dunno why ... so I thought I would share it with everyone here so its not completely wasted

Hopefully that works now :)

Hit the forums kinda hard today, its raining too hard to tend to ponds, quite enjoying myself.

I have a really deep 'immortality' thread going, which has had the whole family chipping with issues and side issues - its even made Sunday lunch late hehehehe

I have also just noticed something about Ouija Boards that I have decided to stir things up on ... either people will ignore it or it will hijack the whole thread *sniggers*

Survival and stuff

So today was the first day back after a six week break.

I had done all my set work in the first two days of the holiday and have my reading up to about October, I figure its going to be a breeze ...

then the careers lady arrived. Now I do sort of remember someone mentioning something about putting thought into a career ...

She passed around a lot of forms, we filled them in. She will be returning with the necessary information to help us with our career choices. She had a really bad attitude so I have chosen a first choice career as 'Batman' ... I just know that she will come back with a real tantrum about superheros and being serious ... so I will then say I couldn't spell 'chiropterologist' - a scientist dedicated to bats

Because we had an afternoon 'free' we had to consider surviving a natural disaster

We all decided we had to have a sort of house kit; mostly matches, candles, canned food and bottled water

I then dive onto the net to look out hurricane kits, because I know that a lot of VR people are facing them right now ... most of the sites agree with our kits basically, except they include tools and medicines (which makes good sense) but they also put ammunition quite high on the list. Hmmmm weird, like good folk don't have enough to cope with, without having to worry about defending their homes from other people.

Looters...They tend to come out after the storms. -.-

The weekend after a tornado laid waste to my street we watched from our doors as finely dressed folks all walked up and down the street and yards looking for anything like it was a free shopping site. Picking up pieces of homes lost or damaged right in front of survivors takes a lot of nerve. Some even brought their little kids with them to help find things, what a lesson to teach your child. Yep ammo fits in just fine.

Indeed!

We had quite a few floods in our neighborhood growing up. The wise city planners let them build a condo development with a big wall next to the river just upstream from us. So during spring rains and fall hurricanes our neighborhood would flood - up to just below the first floor.

Dad's survival kit included a generator, high capacity pumps and a 12 ga. Shotgun with plenty of buckshot rounds just in case of looters.

I have now been on VR for two years woooo

Pages Viewed:

375734

Time Spent:

83.25 days

that's scary

Highlights :

getting to mosquito, ghoul and Sire - working for the money to buy my own first PM - getting into House Eternal - my first ever conversation (Stabb) - getting my lifetime membership for Christmas - being made Assistant House Master - having a conversation with Cancer on just stuff, that was awesome - being made Procurator

Nice things :

the people, its got to be the people - I feel that I know so many new people but all nicely from the safety of my room

even the dreaded server crash that wiped out a chunk of database - just watching the various admins just pile in to fix it all, no complaining just hours of hard work - awesome

Bad things :

Y'know, I can't really think of anything. I honestly can't. I have had my share of run-ins with no-hopers and wannabes but these are just ripples on a lake

I only came here cos someone in vampirefreaks wanted the referer bonus !!!!
